Swaplyo is built around trust. Use this guide to protect yourself, verify other members, and know what to do if something goes wrong.
Scam warning signs
- • Pressure to pay outside Swaplyo or share bank details early.
- • Prices far below market value with urgent deadlines.
- • Refusal to meet in person, share photos, or complete a swap agreement.
- • New accounts with no reviews asking for high-value items first.
Safe meeting tips
- • Meet in a public, well-lit place, preferably a police station lobby or official safe exchange point.
- • Inspect items carefully before handing anything over.
- • Bring a friend for high-value swaps when possible.
- • Use the swap agreement to record condition and agreed value.
How to verify items
- • Compare photos with the live item — check serial numbers and wear.
- • Ask for proof of purchase or authenticity where relevant.
- • Use Swaplyo verification badges: Verified, Trusted, Officially Verified.
- • Upload optional condition proof in the swap agreement before meeting.
Dispute process
- • Report the user or listing with screenshots as evidence.
- • Our moderation team reviews reports as confirmed or dismissed.
- • Confirmed reports reduce trust score and may restrict accounts.
- • Three or more confirmed reports trigger a temporary restriction.
Swap agreement flow
- • After an offer is accepted, both parties complete the swap agreement.
- • Record item condition, agreed value, meeting terms, and refund policy.
- • Both must accept before the swap can be marked completed.
- • Once locked, terms cannot be changed.
Trust score explained
- • Base score of 100 plus verification, ratings, and completed swaps.
- • Penalties for slow responses (over 48 hours), overpriced listings (150%+ above market), and confirmed reports.
- • Three or more confirmed valid reports automatically restrict an account.
- • Verified sellers get higher visibility in search results.
UK & Europe verification
- • Minimum age 18 — date of birth is required at signup.
- • Basic verification: confirmed email plus a real UK or EU/EEA mobile number (virtual/VOIP numbers blocked).
- • Optional photo ID unlocks the blue Officially Verified badge, +25 trust score, 2× search priority, featured placement, and up to £5,000 swap limits.
- • One account per device or network — duplicate registrations are blocked.
